Anglers in Japan basically use three main types of fishing boots, rubber, felt, or these steel spiked ones which are great for extra grip on slippery surfaces like seaweed covered rocks. Not so good for moving around boats with nice paint and surface finishes though, as the boots can easily scratch them.
