Mainly used for river rishing poles, those without eyes.
A very simple but effective way to avoid the tangles which many people encounter when moving between fishing pools or to and from their vehicles, often holding the hook in one hand and the rod in the other. This way does free up one hand for extra safety and can also help increase the time bait is in the water rather than in e.g. the trees, rocks, clothing etc. :-)
