Ayu Fishing Lure

Ayu (sweetfish) are a small freshwater species in Japan which look very similar to this lure from Daiwa. The idea is that other ayu will come up and attack this lure as they fight for territorial space. The rig used is basically the same as when using live ayu, which is the most common method here. Main line is attached to the ring on the back (through the nose with live ayu) with a small clip, it then runs down the back through the spiral loop, a tiny barbless hook clips under the tail and finally from there a trailing barbless treble (or quad) hook hangs out the back of the lure about 5cm to foul hook a real ayu. The lure has a weighted front to give it a realistic feeding action around rocks.
Length - 12cm
