Electric reels are widely used by boat fishing anglers and some of the best (and largest) ones are made by Miyamae. The photo is of a couple of their reels running in a demo tank at a fishing show. Personally I prefer to use manual reels but do appreciate electric ones when fishing deep water, also understand they can be very useful for people with physical disabilities e.g. of the back, arms.
