When seeing these for the first time, thought the reason they are coated is to protect the sides of boats from low-flying sinkers! WRONG...(although still possible)....this style is designed for night fishing to attract fish in close. Just hold under a light for a short time to make it glow. Watch out for the kids though, the luminous glow makes the sinkers a natural target as a new toy.
